Suting said the main objective of the project is to improve farmers’ access to market their products. He mentioned that he was very happy to see the IVCS are improving and also understand the concept of credit and debit card. With regards to marketing policy in the district he informed that he will convene a meeting along with the DPD, M-LAMP project, line departments to look into the matter. Shylla informed that a meeting will be held soon with Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, Deputy Commissioner, line departments and farmers to discuss the needs and requirements of the agricultural sector.ĭeputy Commissioner Batlang S Sohliya also addressed the gathering and requested the IVCS to take the ownership and responsibilities of the Agri-tools and farm machineries which they have received. He suggested the DPMU team to conduct such programs in market areas to attract farmers. He encouraged the farmers to view agriculture as an entrepreneurial activity and urged them to involve their children as well. During his speech, he highlighted the significance of collaboration between line departments, IVCS and farmers to boost the farmers’ economy. Local MLA Wailadmiki Shylla attended the function as the chief guest. Agri-Tools and farm machineries to 12 selected Integrated Village Cooperative Societies (IVCs) from Thadlaskeiñ and Amlarem blocks were handed over at a function held in Khliehtyrshi organised by the District Project Management Unit, West Jaiñtia Hills district.
